Oh great, because I totally needed a reason to start weeping.
Our power came back last night, the basement has been mostly salvaged. Downtown Cranford is another story. The Rahway River exceeded the dikes on both sides; water is rushing through major roads, the first floors of homes. Stop signs, cars, the railings of front porches poke meekly above the swift surge. Residents wade through their submerged, ruined homes before being canoed to safety. I might post some pictures later of my sad, sunken little town.
